24th West Michigan Regional Competition in Lowell, MI

The new painting, “Twilight in the Wood”, is on display at the Lowell Area Arts Council as part of the 24th West Michigan Regional Competition. This year’s juror was artist Armin Mersmann who is known for his masterfully rendered, highly detailed large-scale drawings. He chose an excellent selection of representational works for the exhibition.

  • “Who would ever have been able to anticipate the effect of music before having heard it?

Painting should pervade the soul in the same way, and as long as it does not do this it is nothing more than a brainless handicraft.”

  • “Hold fast your dreams!
    Within your heart
    Keep one still, secret spot
    Where dreams may go,
    And, sheltered so,

Where doubt and fear are not.
    O keep a place apart,
    Within your heart,
    For little dreams to go!”
